Blog Income Report and Numbers (March 2017)

I launched my blog, pork & cookies, one month ago (Feb 12)!  I know this is very new in the blog world and I have a lot to improve.  It’s really always a work in progress, I am sure, for all bloggers.  I kept thinking I should make it perfect before I launch it, but every bit of advice that I read says JUST GO!  I’ve read about reporting blog income at many other sites and thought that I would, as well, so that others may get inspired to start their own creative outlet (blog).

Although anyone who starts a blog would love to make blog income from it, it’s not the primary goal.  The goal of your blog should be as an outlet and a way to share yourself and your interests with the world.  If you can become a part of the blogging community, you start to earn respect and your blog can grow.

How did I start my blog?

I first decided on a blog name and verified that it was available through GoDaddy.  I also checked various social media networks so that I could keep my social media presence consistent.  You can also check for the domain using BlueHost (discussed below).  Is your idea available?

The next step was to register my domain to be hosted at BlueHost. BlueHost is the most highly recommended hosting program by bloggers around the world.

The next step is to just start writing!  Design your blog and change it around as you go, but that can develop as you go.  The more content you have on your site, the more you can engage readers to stay.

Blog Income

It’s not much, but I’m happy with my first month having some blog income!  As a primarily fashion blog, I started with ShopStyle Collective.  This allows you to link the items you’re discussing in your post.  I also added Google Adsense.  As my blog grows, I will be able to get accepted into other affiliate programs as well.

ShopStyle income: $9.95
Google Adsense income: $5.54
Total income: $15.49

I know, it’s not much.  But it makes me feel like all of this time I’ve been putting into this blog so far, might eventually pay off.  If you don’t currently have a blog, you might not realize how much time it is to keep up with posting and social media!

Numbers

As a numbers person, I love to look at my blog analytics and watch the numbers grow (usually).  I like to learn new ways to make my blog grow as well.  The first month has gone better than I thought but I still have a lot of blog goals.

Twitter: 154 followers
Pinterest: 52 followers
Instagram: 179 followers
Facebook: 0 likes 🙁
Bloglovin: 43 followers of the blog
Google Analytics: You can see below.  It hasn’t been completely steady but you can see that on average I have more traffic in the last 2 weeks as compared to the first 2 weeks!  I had a huge peak when I posted my end of the month purchases (Purchase Roundup February 2017).  I would like to increase “Avg. Session Duration” over this month!

I will try to post my income report/numbers every month around the 12-16th!  Stay tuned for updates.
